Located
in the middle of the Anderson Valley wine district, this 845-acre
park is warmer and less foggy than redwood parks along the coast. The
park is well known for a fallen redwood stump that was home for a man known
locally as the Hendy Woods Hermit. The 25 picnicking sites are located
near the banks of the Navarro River in full view of Big Hendy Grove. 2 miles of nature

Preserve occupies a spectacular headland thrusting out into the Pacific. As you start to
walk down the access road, the Point Cabrillo Light Station is arrayed before you, made up
of the Lighthouse itself and three original lightkeepers' houses and outbuildings. The
lighthouse, which has been fully restored, is open from 11 AM to 4 PM, Saturdays and
Sundays, from the first weekend of March through the last weekend in October. |
